Those are adorable....I have a maybe dumb question regarding warmth. I have knitted plain mittens with heavy yarn and they are warm. Are fingering weight fair isle mittens warm because of the stranding? Or are these mainly pretty mittens, but not too warm? I really want to knit these.

I looooove these. Have never knitted mittens before. But, hey, here in Michigan we need them big-time. This might just be the pair to get me started.
